A classic Lord of the Rings board game is getting a new edition, and serious fans will need to dig deep into their wallets. The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation, originally released in 2002, is a beloved two-player game, and now it's being completely revamped by Ghost Galaxy.

The updated version will feature new characters and cards, adding to the gameplay experience. Furthermore, the components will be made with much higher quality materials, making it a collectible item for dedicated fans.

Middle-earth Board Game Legend Gets a Premium Remake with New Content

To fund this ambitious project, Ghost Galaxy launched a campaign on Gamefound. Their initial goal of $50,000 was reached in just five minutes! The campaign has now raised nearly $900,000, ensuring the new edition will definitely be produced. Currently, the campaign focuses on the English version, but a German translation is planned.

If you want to own this updated classic, you have until July 14th to support the campaign. A standard pledge of $50 will get you the base game. For $120, the Premium Pledge includes extras like storage boxes. But the ultimate Lord of the Rings enthusiast can opt for the Collector's Pledge for a whopping $2,199!

The Collector's Pledge includes a 3D model of Middle-earth, showcasing all the iconic locations. The game board itself comes in a stylish wooden box that can even be used as a table. More details on the new edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation can be found on the official Gamefound campaign page.

What's the Game About?

In The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation, players take on the roles of either the Fellowship or Sauron's army. The goal is to defeat your opponent by moving characters across Middle-earth, battling enemy units, and using powerful abilities. The Fellowship wins by getting Frodo to Mordor, while Sauron's army wins by conquering enough territory in the Shire.

So, if you're a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan and are willing to spend a considerable amount, this collector's edition might be the perfect addition to your collection. Just be prepared for a price tag that rivals that of a used car!
