Many Microsoft Outlook users are having trouble accessing their email accounts. Reports started coming in early Thursday morning, July 10th, with people saying they can't log in.

It's not clear exactly how many people are affected, but the problem seems to be happening in several countries, including the UK, Australia, and Canada. Outlook is used by over 400 million people worldwide.

DownDetector, a website that tracks outages, shows a steady increase in reported problems since about 5 a.m. ET. People are using social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to talk about the issues.

USA TODAY has reached out to Microsoft for more information but hasn't received a response yet.

Past Microsoft Outages

This isn't the first time Microsoft services have experienced problems. In November 2024, users had trouble accessing Outlook and Microsoft Teams calendar features. Microsoft said they were investigating the issue.

Before that, in September 2024, another outage prevented thousands of users from signing into their email accounts and other Microsoft 365 applications.

Last July, a faulty update from a cybersecurity company called CrowdStrike caused Microsoft Windows systems to crash globally. This caused disruptions in various industries, including banks, hospitals, 911 call centers, and even affected flights and public transportation.

CrowdStrike stated that the problem was due to a defect in one of their content updates and was not a cyberattack. They said their software is used by more than half of Fortune 500 companies.
